My Basic Fruit Shake
The best thing about fruit shakes is how easy they are to make. All you really want in a fruit shake is the icy and refreshing liquid taste of fruit. To do that all you need is: fruit, ice, coconut water and a simple sugar syrup. Continue Reading

My discursive essay is about healthy eating. I will explore both sides of the argument for and against healthy eating and come to a conclusion on what I think is the best side of the argument. This topic is quite controversial and is often discussed by the media. I personally think that people should be able to enjoy what they eat and not have to eat what people say they should eat.
Some people say that if you eat healthy and stick to it you will live longer as you will have less diseases such as heart disease, stroke, hypertension and some cancers. According to the book “Eating for good health” the connection between a high fat diet and the life threatening diseases mentioned above centres on a waxy substance called cholesterol. It is made by the liver and other tissues from ingested fats. As a result of this the cholesterol then sticks to the wall of the arteries. This thickens the artery walls so the passageway for blood is narrower, which increases blood pressure. This can cause a weakness in the artery walls which causes a bulge. If this bulge ruptures it may cause a stroke or a cardiac arrest. Furthermore certain types of cancer can be caused by having a high fat diet. Bile acids in the colon that can turn cells cancerous are stimulated by fat. Fat is also known as a fuel promoting tumour growth.
On the other hand people who eat healthily and who do not eat fatty foods can still die from cancer and other diseases. Another valid point is that you can take healthy eating too far and get diseases such as anorexia and bulimia where you starve yourself or make yourself sick. As a result of these diseases you can develop depression or even death. Also you could eat healthily all your life but you can not control what happens to you. For example you could walk out onto the road and get killed so you may as well enjoy life and eat what you want when you still can.
